Failure to plan is planning to fail, and this is especially true during the summer months. Creating a summer schedule for your family will keep you from wasting away your summer days, and make sure you get everything done! Think about how you want to keep your kids entertained, the meals you want to have, and even when you will be taking trips. Making a plan for your summer days will make them less stressful.
If you are trying to save a little money this summer, you may be tempted to spend most of your days at home. While not leaving the house can keep you from spending money, it can also drive you insane! Don’t just stay cooped up in the house all day! Try to plan at least three outings a week, if for no other reason than to get out of the house. There are a ton of great no-spend activities that you can do, like as playing at the park with your kids or going for a walk!
We sometimes have a tendency to overbook our summer. This is usually when we have the most free time, so we try to take advantage of it a little too much! Instead of planning an activity for every single day, create a flexible schedule. Plan themed days or come up with a summer bucket list for your family. This will help make sure you knock out the things you want to do, but still, keep it relaxed and fun!
As a homeschool mom, I spend A LOT of time with my kids! When we aren’t doing schoolwork, we are usually running errands together or doing some kind of activity together. During the summer, it’s important to also spend time without your kids. Hire a babysitter and go out for a fun date with your spouse or just have some alone time at home when the kids are playing outside. If you are able to, try to plan a weekend getaway with your spouse so you can have some couple time for a few days.
During the summer, I look forward to more time on the horses with my kids, days by the pool, and spending extra time together as a family. All of this while also running multiple businesses, it can start to turn into a large to-do list! These tips help make summers run WAY smoother, and they are more fun for everyone!
