Láro Spring/Summer 2019 Launch

Seeking significance

I think that is what I have been doing my entire life, in one way or another. In my youth and early adult years, I was seeking to BE significant. And I did so at almost any cost. I was unkind, impatient and reckless. As I matured and grew closer to God, my desire to BE significant changed to a desire to DO something significant. And so the struggle of my adult life began:

What was I called to do? In what manner was I supposed to do it? How could I use my personal and professional experiences to serve the causes about which I was passionate?

Seeking answers

Seeking to answer these questions, I have embarked on this beautiful journey that my partner Nika and I call Láro. We set out to marry our mutual love for fashion with our passion for combatting human trafficking. We launched just this past July, and in six short months have sold over $44,000 in accessories and given over $7,000 to non-profit organizations. Learn more about our donations and the benefitting organizations by clicking here.

Along the way, I have learned that doing something significant — affecting change — is not a one-time act. It is a lifestyle. A complete shift in my way of thinking: where I buy products and how I consume them, how I talk about my hopes for this world and how I encourage others to join in, and how I educate myself in our ever-changing global economy. Here are some verses that I have meditated on in the past year:

In the same way, let your light shine before people, so that they can see your good deeds and give honor to your Father in heaven.

Matthew 5:16

One should think about us this way – as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. Now what is sought in stewards is that one be found faithful.

1 Corinthians 4:1-2

For we are his workmanship, having been created in Christ Jesus for good works that God prepared beforehand so we may do them.

Ephesians 2:10

I have experienced times of need and times of abundance. In any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of contentment, whether I go satisfied or hungry, have plenty or nothing. I am able to do all things through the one who strengthens me.

Philippians 4:12-13

Thank you for being a part of this journey with me.
