How to Throw a Fun and Stress-Free New Year’s Eve Party

Try to plan a party can make you feel like you want to have an anxiety attack! While the very idea of throwing a party, whether it’s for your friends or family, might sound like a huge undertaking, you can throw a fun and stress-free New Year’s Eve party! Every year I host an annual New Year’s Eve party, so I thought I would share with you my best tips for throwing a party that is both stress-free and fun for New Year’s Eve.

Start by making a plan

Before you head to the store for a single drink mixer or start buying ingredients to make appetizers, you need to make a plan. Making a plan will not only help you create an amazing party, but you will be able to organize your thoughts and figure out what you need. Start by making a guest list and use that number to help you decide on food choices, cocktails, and anything else your party might need.

Create a theme

A themed party might sound like more work, but the reality is that a theme party makes all the decisions for you! If you are having a black and gold themed party, then your decor will be black and gold, your dishes should be black and gold and your outfit will be either black or gold. Creating a theme around your event will not only make it look nicer but take some of the decision fatigue out of the planning process.

Take shortcuts

Shortcuts that can save you time, money, and stress are worth the trouble! It’s okay to use a storebought cake or ready-made ingredients instead of making everything from scratch. If you want to cater your event, great! That’s even less work on you! You don’t have to DIY all your food and decor to have a great party, and it will save you a lot of time and effort.

Enlist help where you can

Help doesn’t have to mean people! Use your crockpot to do some of the heavy lifting on the food and look for ways you can use the tools around you to your advantage. Ask your family and friends to help out if you need an extra hand, and don’t try to do it all yourself!

Do as much as you can ahead of time

If you’re able to, set up decorations and start preparing food as soon as you can. Even doing just one task ahead of time will help keep you sane while preparing for your event, and save you time! If you need to buy things for your party, buy them as early as you can and store them away until you need them. If you need to clean your home, don’t wait until the day of to start cleaning! Have all your cleaning done at least the day before, and do a simple last sweep before the event.

As you can see, throwing a party doesn’t have to be a crazy undertaking! If you follow these tips, you can ring in the new year and leave the stress in the past!

Are you throwing a New Year’s Eve party? In your opinion, what makes a party great?
