10 Energy-Boosting Tips for Moms

Being a mom can sometimes feel pretty draining! Between running errands, cooking every meal, homeschooling the kids, and running a business, I would fall flat on my face at the end of the day. Despite waking up early to get a head start on the day, or staying up late to get it all done, I couldn’t seem to find a balance and keep my energy levels up. If you are a mom, here are 10 energy boosting tips that every mom needs to know.

10 Energy-Boosting Tips for Moms

Squeeze in movement where you can

Let’s be honest. We don’t always have time to hit the gym or take a spin class. In fact, most days we may not even get the chance to leave the house. Look for ways to squeeze in a little movement where you can. Take the stairs instead of an elevator, park a little further away, or take a walk around your neighborhood.

Don’t overwork yourself

Overworking yourself and being stressed out can be one of the reasons why you feel so drained at the end of the day. Don’t overwork yourself and take the time to de-stress every day. Take a bubble bath, enjoy a good glass of wine, or do something for yourself every day.

Fuel your body

The afternoon slump hits us at all some point, but properly fueling your body can help keep you from letting that ruin a good day. If you are feeling tired and exhausted by about 3 pm, it could be that you aren’t getting enough fuel for your body. Make sure you are eating nutritious food and getting enough food to get you through the day.

“Eat the frog”

They say that the best way to start your day is by doing the hardest task first. This is also known as eating the frog. By starting your day with the harder tasks, you can save the easy tasks for when your energy levels are lower during the day. This will ensure you get more done and stay productive!

Make your sleep a priority

The average adult needs 7-8 hours of sleep a night. However, you need to find the right number that works best for you! For some, 9 might be the magical number. Make your sleep a priority and make sure you are getting enough sleep each night.

Keep track of your nutrients

Eating a lot of carbs or not getting enough protein can impact your energy levels. Be aware of the nutritional value of the food you are choosing to consume. Make sure you are eating enough nutritious food to keep your body fueled for the day.

Get outside

If you can’t make it outside during the day, at least open up the windows and let in a fresh breeze. Sunlight will help keep you awake and boost your energy levels throughout the day. Use those sunlight hours to help boost your energy, especially during the winter months.

Stay hydrated

Make sure you are getting enough water each day. The recommended amount is at least 8 glasses of water each day. To make sure you get in enough glasses each day, aim for about 1 glass for each hour of your workday. If that is too much water for you, try to set goals throughout the day to help you reach your water intake goal.

Don’t skip meals

When life gets busy it’s easy to say that you won’t make it to a meal, or that you’ll let your kids eat and you’ll grab something later. Don’t skip meals! This will make you more tired throughout the day and leave you hungry!

Get dressed for the day

There is a saying that it takes just as much time to put on sweatpants as it does to put on real clothes. No matter how horrible your day is going, dress for the day ahead! You’ll be ready for whatever comes your way and it will help boost your energy!

Being a mom is one of the most stressful jobs out there, so help give your energy a boost so you can conquer whatever life throws at you!
