6 Ways to Fight Against Human Trafficking This Super Bowl

The first Sunday of every February, the big game sweeps the nation, and all eyes are on the TV for one night. The Super Bowl will have most people focusing on hot wings and football, but did what many people don’t realize is that human trafficking spikes during this season. There are a few ways you can fight against human trafficking this Super Bowl, here is what you and your family can do.

6 Ways to Fight Against Human Trafficking This Super Bowl

Know the Signs of Human Trafficking

It’s important to not only know the signs of human trafficking for yourself, but to be able to identify others who may be showing the signs. The U.S. Department of State has an entire list of signs you should be on the lookout for. Be on the lookout for these red flags so you can help if you see them.

Spread Awareness

If you know someone who will be attending this year’s game, or you live in the city who is hosting, it’s important to spread awareness to those people. While human trafficking is a global issue, spikes usually will take place in this area during the Super Bowl. I wrote a whole post on what to do if you’re attending the big game that you can check out here.

Educate Yourself

Don’t stay in the dark about human trafficking, especially if it is happening near you! Turn on the radio or sign up for alerts so you can be on the lookout for suspicious activity in your area. Alerts may be sent out about a suspicious car or person who may be associated with human trafficking in your area.

Take a Stand

There are a ton of great national organizations, and even local organizations who are fighting every day to help end human trafficking all over the world. Take a stand against human trafficking by spending your Super Bowl getting involved. I wrote an entire post about 10 ways you can get involved here.

Here are some great national organizations that are always looking for support:

Pray for Those Who Have Been Affected

This Super Bowl Sunday don’t forget to say a prayer for those who have been affected by human trafficking. Whenever we get together with friends or if it’s just us, we always make sure to say a quick prayer for those who have been affected.

Make a Donation

You don’t have to have a lot of money in order to donate to a human trafficking cause. If you don’t have money, make a donation by raising the money yourself. You can host a bake sale, yard sale, or any number of activities to make enough to donate. You can even host a Super Bowl Party and ask that everyone donate to the cause.

Human trafficking is a global epidemic that is sweeping the world. Large events such as the Super Bowl cause spikes in human trafficking, and they continue to grow each year. This Super Bowl Sunday, I ask you to take a moment to pause. Think about how your actions today could be helping someone who is fighting to stay out of the human trafficking circle of life, or how you can make a difference.
